Tāriq As’ad, a lawyer for the defense in the Kardāsa Church burning trial, reported that a church sponsor submitted a report claiming the innocence of the 71 accused that were sentenced to life in prison over the incident. The report claims that none of the accused was present inside or outside of the church at the time of the incident. One of the defence lawyers reported that they plan to mount a challenge to the life sentences.
