Egypt accepts 81% of the recommendations of the UN council on Human Rights and rejects recommendations such as “abolishment of death penalty” and achieving “unconditional gender equality”. According to ambassador ʿAmr Ramadān, Egypt’s UN representative, “Egypt rejects some recommendations because of their conflict with Islamic Shari’a”. Worth mentioning is that 11 international NGOs concerned with human rights expressed their doubt in Egypt’s intentions to make a change.
