The “Enlisting Egypt” campaign has stirred up questions among many in Egypt as media coverage surrounding the proposal is generating many doubts of the goals, justifications, and credibility of the campaign. The campaign, which became active in the aftermath of the military coup two years ago, said that it has collected 19,000 signatures from girls around the country who want to join the army. The campaign also reported that it has received promises that Egyptian law will be amended to allow girls to enlist in the army.
