Part of the suggested plan to fight Islamic extremism and anti-Semitism is a closer monitoring and training of Imams. Such a plan would target extremism and at the same time protect the Islamic community through a discourse of teaching and promoting the religion. However, the government's plan to use CCTV surveillance was met by opposition, calling such measures Islamophobic. In addition to surveillance measures, the plan supports a warmer dialogue with the Muslim community on Halal food and encourages a stronger participation of Imams in society and analysis of Islamic radicalization in French prisons.
