A yearly meeting for Muslims concludes in France with 50,000 participants
On Monday, the 32nd annual meeting for Muslims in France closed in the suburb of Le Bourget in Paris. The event lasted for three days and was organized by the Union of Islamic Organizations in France (non-profit). The title of the event was “Muhammad, The Prophet of Mercy and Peace,” and they discussed issues such as Islamophobia, efforts to ban the hijab in universities, as well as the scarcity of mosques in the country. The issue of additional mosques is particularly troubling for Muslims in France, as the one of the speakers at the event, Dalīl Būbakr, confirmed that the Muslim community in France will need double the number of mosques in the coming years. This problem is exacerbated by the French government’s restriction on foreign funds being used to build mosques.
