Ambassador Rakhā Ahmad Hassan, member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Relations, emphasized that countries which had expressed criticism former president Muhammad Mursī’s death sentence are meddling in Egypt’s internal affairs. He clarified that 90% of European countries had gotten rid of the death penalty and opposed the sentence for that reason. In regard to other countries, he pointed out that the United States had destroyed entire countries in its campaign against terrorism whereas Egypt is fighting terrorism with law and justice.
