Al-Azhar: Calls to remove the veil is an assault on Muslim women

 Al-Azhar declared its rejection of calls to remove the veil, which some journalists are encouraging, considering this to be an assault upon the dignity of Muslim women. It also declared that it is not permissible for men to ask women to stop praying, fasting or going on pilgrimage, as this is what they themselves have chosen to do. It added that the veiling of Muslim women is among the issues that scientists of the Islamic world have hypothesised over.
