The Church of the Virgin Mary in the Cairene district of al-Zaytūn held a celebratory mass to mark the 55^th anniversary of the apparition of the Virgin Mary above the church. The apparition occurred in 1968 when a group of workers sighted the figure of the Virgin Mary above the dome of the church. Elsewhere, Pope Tawāḍrūs II led prayers for five new nuns in the convent of Mār Jirjis in Zūwaylah, where he also delivered a sermon on monasticism.
