The interview with Dr Amr Assad Khalil [ʿAmrū Asʿad Khalīl] is a journey to Moscow of the 80’s through the eyes of an Egyptian, a monologue of memory, a life story and warm conversation of two with the hum of a hard-working ventilator in the back.
Dr. Asʿad speaks about his anti-Israeli activities in Egypt and life in Moscow, about the beauty and hypocrisy of the USSR and other episodes of life in the Eastern Bloc in the 1980’s.
ʿAmrū Asʿad read the interview and newsletter and responded on August 24: “Thanks a lot Kees, the interview I believe is very well written and your introduction is beautiful. I have to be honest that after the initial round of comments that I sent to Valeria I was not able to read the redacted text. I only noticed some really few points indicating that I was mixed up during the interview. I did the interview under heavy therapeutic doses that could affect remembering some details.”
