Editor AWR:  Retired Navy captain Amīr Fu ̓ād responded to Cornelis Hulsman’s newsletter on the death penalty of former President Mursī. Hulsman argues against the death penalty. Mr. Amīr Fu ̓ād disagrees with Hulsman but agrees with much of the background information given. The sentiments of (retired) army and police officers who have lost thousands among their ranks in continuing attacks tend to be quite strong against the Muslim Brotherhood. This also applies to the Egyptian judiciary, diplomats, as well as Egyptians of different rankings. The response of Mr. Amīr Fu ̓ād reflects that sentiment. Cornelis Hulsman understands the sentiments but still disagrees with the death penalty.
