Intercultural and interreligious dialogue brought Cornelis Hulsman from a conservative Christian Reformed bubble in the Netherlands to a deeply ecumenical attitude, refraining from absolutist statements about faith since any religion is the outcome of a human search for meaning in life. Hulsman was asked to reflect on his personal development by Prof. Dr. Elisabetta Ruspini, Italian Sociologist, full Professor of Sociology at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Milan, Italy, for publication in Religions, MDPI Open Access Publishers. The text he initially wrote was too long for MDPI and reflected insufficiently on academic literature. Since literature needed to be added and the text had to be shortened, the changes made came at the expense of the description of his personal experiences. These are now published with permission of MDPI publishers in Dialogue Across Borders.
