Saʿd al-Dīn Ibrāhīm underlines the need for a dialogue with the Muslim Brotherhood, since they are part of the Egyptian society and most families have relatives with links to them. Discussing the conditionality of such a dialogue, Ibrāhīm makes it clear that any sort of violence against people has to stop. This is a difficult task given the history of human rights violation in Egyptian and the regime’s inaction about it. Recent attacks against civil organizations in this regard can be explained by the regime’s attempt to find a scapegoat for the country’s social and political problems. Yet, by oppressing civil society, the regime rather maintains social frustrations.
