Dr. Nadia Muṣṭafā works at the Institute of Progressive Civil Studies and Dialogue Cultures in Cairo as a scholar. She emphasizes that she doesn't adhere to a specific Islamic group like Salafis or the Muslim Brotherhood or a specific party. Instead, Muṣṭafā relates to al-Islām al-Haḍārī (intellectual Islam) and considers each of these as different ways to fulfill the Islamist's call which is to realize Islam not only as a religion in the private sphere but as a concept for the social and political sphere of society. She opposes the notion that the term "Islamists" is restricted to groups and people that are politically active. In her opinion, everyone who aims to have the principles of Islam realized in society, and this might by also through education, is an activist and therefor an Islamist
