The Jordanian government intends to amend articles providing for honor crimes in the Jordanian Penal Code, most importantly Section 1 of Article 340. The author discusses the reasons for the inclusion of this section originally and concludes by saying, "Jordanians have an Arab conservative culture that does not, and should not, accept or tolerate women having sexual relations of any kind before marriage. Numinous [sic] Jordanians cherish and hold dear their traditions and culture. Please, do not fiddle with these traditions and keep them sacred and safe from being exchanged with repugnant imported customs."
