A few days ago, President Mubarak sent the draft of the Procedure law in Personal Status law cases to the Shura Council to discuss it before forwarding it to the People’s Assembly. The draft of the new law which has been drawn up with careful consultation with various bodies, particularly the Al-Azhar, in order that it should not contradict Islamic Shari’a, insists that it is the right of the Egyptian family to enjoy stability and to conclude any legal conflict concerning it rapidly and fairly, and has provisions in it to greatly speed up legal cases brought under it. It has the strong support of both the Dr. Sayyed Tantawi (the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar) and Dr. Nasr Farid Wassel (the Grand Mufti of Egypt).
