While the pro-Islamic media machine presents Tariq Ramadan, the grandson of Hassan Al-Banna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, as an Islamic preacher living in Europe, Ramadan presents himself to the Western media as a preacher of what he calls "European Islam." He wants to establish an independent European Islam, believing that there is a need to separate the fundamentals of Islam from its main culture and to link it to the Western European one. He is also of the opinion that it is now the time to melt Islam with the West.
