Islamists in Cairo and London made great efforts to halt the procedures of deporting Ali Sediq Hassanain, a member of the Gama´at Al-Islamiya. Montasser Al-Zayyat said that he held contacts with Egyptian Islamists in London and officials of the Amnesty International organization to stop Hassanain´s deportation. Hassanian´s British lawyer presented a request to the British Home Office to stop the deportation due to new information concerning the possibility of the danger he might face in Egypt.
