Dr. Nasr Hamid Abu Zeid speaks about the problem of linking Islam with terrorism and presents two approaches to deal with the problem. The first is to show Qur’anic texts that call for peace and tolerance and to interpret the texts calling for violence within the framework of their historical contexts and the reasons behind their revelation. The second is to bring to the surface the fact that religion is not the sole element controlling the behavior of individuals and groups in Islamic societies.
