The Cairo Social Affairs Department admitted that there is nothing called “The Church of Virgin Mary and Habeel the Pious” in Misr Al-Qadima [old Cairo] district and that it is an imaginary church without a specific location.


A founder of the NGO called Habeel Tawfiq Saeed attempted to change the name of the NGO in order to make it the headquarters of the Coptic denomination he established. The Social Affairs Department refused the change of the NGO’s name and discovered many financial misdemeanors in managing the NGO. The Governor of Cairo decided to dissolve the NGO’s board of directors and appointed a new board for a term of one year to run the NGO.
