Last Thursday was the first day the law that bans students from wearing the veil in French schools and universities went into effect. The law triggered many unforeseen incidents. The law that caused wide controversy in Islamic circles and echoed in many Islamic countries bans all obvious religious symbols in public schools and universities. The Islamic head scarf will be the first victim of this law.
