discusses the issue of the punishment for apostasy from Islam. The author explains the opinion of

the Grand Imam of the Azhar, which he expressed while in a visit to Germany.

Dr. Tantawi

explained that a Muslim who commits apostasy is not punished until he sets himself as an enemy to

Islam and attacks Muslims. Only then is it the Muslims’ right to react, and it will be an act of

defense rather than an attack.

The author then gives an idea about a book titled “Al-

Huraya al-Dinaya fi Al-Islam” [Religious Freedom in Islam].
