Lord Carey of Clifton
7th May, 2006
To whom it may concern,
I write this letter to commend the Center for Arab-West Understanding, which is presently in the process of becoming an Egyptian NGO, together with the work of its companion organization, the Center for Intercultural Dialogue and Translation, an Egyptian civil company. I have learned of the work of these organizations in my capacity as co-chair of the Council of One Hundred Leaders West-Islamic World Dialogue of the World Economic Forum.
The work of decreasing misapprehensions and potential polarization through the regular provision of accurate information, together with the provision of translations of reliable reports which dispel misunderstandings is very valuable and is highly esteemed by the important libraries and other international institutions which subscribe. Moreover, the large and developing database that is being created will have growing utility in the future for research- provided that this work can be sustained.
Accordingly, I commend these projects and urge that they be given every consideration for the support which is vital for them in order to secure their future and the unique work which they undertake.
George Carey
