This article discusses the different points of view regarding the draft law suggested by Prof. Najīb Jibrā’īl, who is asking for the approval of a new law which permits adoption for Christians. The draft law has been rejected by the Islamic Research Academy and the Azhar because it does not agree with the Islamic sharī‘ah, which prohibits the principle of adoption due to the possible negative consequences.
