Two trials related to the recent Nag Hammadi incident have been adjourned. The first trial involved three suspects in the shooting the other involved Girgis Baroumi Girgis—the man accused of provoking the incident by raping a 12 year old Muslim girl. Girgis’ defense team had requested that the case be heard by another judge due to irregularities in the legal process but their requests have been denied. According to Girgis’ defense team, the trial looks very good for him as there is little evidence to support that he is the attacker. The trial of the shooting suspects has equally been plagued with irregularities including a physical attack by the suspects’ lawyer on victims’ defense team. Following the incident a private meeting was held between the judge and the defendants’ defense team; after the meeting Nabih al-Wahsh—the suspects’ lawyer—suspiciously announced “The deal’s gone through.”
