This article outlines 3 reasons why it is difficult to include Coptic Christians fully into the Egyptian political system. The first is the fact that there is little political participation by Copts within the government. There are seats reserved for women within the parliament, but this same policy for Copts was met with many reservations, and is not in effect even though President Mubarak had promised something similar to this before the election. The second reason is said to be the fact that Egypt is an inherently Theocratic State, where the morals and rules of Islam are intertwined with the politics, culture, and society. Thirdly is the growing marginalization of Copts in Egyptian society. Muslims are many times favored for jobs within academies and with the armed forces.
