An ecclesial source denied claims of Pope Shenouda III meeting with parliamentary candidates at the papal headquarters. The source also told al-Wafd that the Pope only met with parliamentary candidate Dr. Hamdī al-Sayyid yesterday morning because he is also head of the Egyptian Medical Association and close friends with the Pope. Dr. Safwat al-Bayādī announced that Egypt’s three major churches, the Orthodox, Protestant, and Catholic churches, have agreed to set up a meeting to discuss improved cooperation.
