The Muslim Brotherhood opposition front has announced its support of the group’s decision to withdraw from the parliamentary elections.
Leading member of the opposition front, Mukhtār Nūh, said that the front will release a statement today to clarify its position on the group’s decision. He added that the statement will include the signatures of various leading members of the group, including himself, Dr. Ibrāhīm al-Za‘farānī, Khālid Dā’ud, and Haytham Abū Khalīl.
Nūh also announced that the front will hold two seminars next week to announce its official commencement and the group’s new agenda, which includes activating the supervisory role of the group’s Shūrá Council and minimizing the role of the group leader.
Nūh added that select members of the al-Wasat Party will be attending the front’s first official meeting, along with leading Muslim Brotherhood members such as Dr. Muhammad Habīb, Dr. ‘Abd al-Mun‘im Abū al-Futūh, Kamāl al-Hilbāwī, and Dr. Yūsuf al-Qaradāwī.
