Dr. Muḥammad al-Shahhāt al-Jindī , Secretary of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, requested that all Fatwás be approved by the Islamic Fiqh Academy, due to the rise of what he called “Kiosk Fatwás”.

Al-Jindī said that these incorrect Fatwás, such as those issued via satellite channels without appropriate research, have resulted in wrong practices, including a woman leading prayer in the United States.

Al-Jindī said that Fatwás should not come from an individual, but from a specialized committee, as they affect not only the religious aspects of life but also social and medical aspects.
