The Military Council announced a decision to release sixty prisoners who served half their time in jail. Among them are some political prisoners.
Furthermore, Tāriq 'Abd al-Mawjūd al-Zumur and ‘Abūd ‘Abd al-Latīf al-Zumur, who were accused to be involved in the murder of, ex-president Muhammad Anwar al-Sādāt, and whose sentence ended years ago but previous Ministry of Interior, Habīb al-‘Ādlī refused to release them.
'Um al-Haytham, wife of ‘Abūd al-Zumur and sister of Tāriq al-Zumur said that she found out about the decision to release them through the media and made sure of the news from a list she found through internet.
She also added that the first thing ‘Abūd will do when he is out of jail, is to organize a journalism conference to announce his future plans and projects. However, 'Um al-Haytham is still not sure of the exact date of their release and it would be this Friday.
