Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabīl al-'Arabī paid a visit to both Egypt's Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Shenouda III and Grand Shaykh of the Azhar Ahmad al-Tayīb on Monday April 11.

During his meeting with Pope Shenouda, 'Arabī discussed the ways they can portray the good relations binding Muslims and Copts globally.

'Arabī underscored the role of the Coptic Orthodox Church to resolve the River Nile water crisis in Ethiopia, which recently erupted after Addis Ababa embarked on its Great Millennium Dam project.

Also, during 'Arabī's meeting with Tayīb they discussed the importance of cooperation between the Azhar and the Egyptian embassies abroad.
