The al-Jamā'ah al-Islāmīyah (Islamic Group), the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom & Justice Party (FJP) and the salafī al-Nūr party turned down an invitation by the Islamic Legitimate Body of Rights and Reformation (ILBRR) to participate in an "Islamic million-man march in defense of the sharī'ah against the so-called ultra-constitutional principles committee."
'Āsim 'Abd al-Mājid, a spokesman for the Jamā'ah, said that it is not right to stage demonstrations under sectarian banners so as to preserve the county's stability, adding the sharī'ah is not facing any threats.
Dr. Muhammad Yusrī, a spokesman for al-Nūr, said that his party rejects the invitation of the ILBRR to apply the sharī'ah (Muslim law), adding the party is calling for stability.
Ashraf Badr al-Dīn, a member of the FJP high board, said his party refuses to participate in any protests under sectarian or individual banners, demanding that any placards being raised at al-Tahrīr Square would mainly aim to unify all Egyptians' ranks.
