Dr. Yāsir Burhāmī, the deputy head of the Salafī Da’wah (Call) Movement, said fears about Islamists’ winning nearly one-quarter of seats in the coming parliament despite a relentless campaign against them as “illusion” made by “liberal mass media through lies in order to curb their presence in parliament”.
“Copts should harbor no fears about the implementation of the sharī’ah. Throughout the past 14 centuries, Copts have always been safe and secure under Islam,” said Burhāmī in an interview.
He said that the term “halāl tourism” adopted by officials in the Salafī al-Nūr (Light) Party was not invented by them, but rather an international term.
“The Belgian parliament has approved the halāl tourism as one of the recognized sectors of tourism in the country. The famous Kempinski chain of hotels in Zurich is about to build 30 hotels that are compatible with the Islamic sharī’ah, scheduled to end by 2015. In addition to this, officials of al-Nūr have a plan to increase the number of tourism from 14 million to 29 million,” explained Burhāmī [Muhammad ‘Antar, al-Ahrām, Jan. 7, p. 6]
