Muslim Brotherhood Murshid (Guide) underscored support for projects and programs of President Dr. Mursī on the street very strongly, calling for paying no attention to “those who only hinder progress and cause frustration”.
“The presidency is totally independent and the Muslim Brotherhood does not have anything to do with it. Naming ministers for the cabinet is a purely partisan activity that has to do with the Freedom and Justice Party. The Brotherhood does not interfere in any political activities,” said Badī’ during a speech in an annual iftār (fast-breaking meal in the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadān, held by the Brotherhood in al-Sharqīyah governorate on Saturday (July 28), where Mursī was absent for the first time in years.
Former Brotherhood Murshid Muhammad Mahdī ‘Ākif called on the group’s members to feel proud about their affiliation and to be alarmed by accusations against the group that it is trying to dominate all state powers.
“There is absolutely nothing wrong with this domination as long as it takes place legitimately and democratically through the will of the people,” said ‘Ākif. [Nāsir al-Kāshif, ‘Abd Allāh al-‘Arīnī and ‘Imād al-Shāzlī, al-Misrī al-Yawm, July 29, p. 3] Read text in Arabic
