“Despite their active participation in all the events of the Revolution and their standing side by side with men, evolving currents on the political scene are working on throwing their (women) social status quo back to the ages of oppression and discrimination”, said Mirvat Tallāwī, president of the National Council for Women Rights in her opening words during the UN Conference on Women Participation in Parliamentary Elections.
