Khalīl Muhammad Khalīl 'Abd Allāh, the father of Rānyā, the focal point of a sectarian strife in the village of Mīt Bashār, al-Sharqia governorate, submitted a request to Counselor Ahmad Di'bis, the First Attorney General for the South Sharqia Prosecutions, to have his daughter with his divorced Christian wife under his custody in accordance with the law.

The 47-year-old father, during investigations with him, showed the prosecutor the new birth certificate of Rānyā that shows she is Muslim and another official document from the Minyā al-Qamh Education Department that she has taken the Islamic education exam during the first term of her intermediate school.
