Sectarian incidents flared in number of Governorates yesterday (Apr. 26). A businessman and his son were kidnapped at gunpoint and are still missing. Security sources say that the kidnapping of businessman Jamāl ‘Ayyād, is not related in any way to the extremist groups which threatened several Coptic families last September causing many of them to flee Rafah, most of whom later returned after promises of safety from army. The source said that the man and his son were kidnapped late evening several days ago, and the kidnappers called the family to demand of EgP500,000(approximately USD70,000) ransom. Moreover, a Coptic family in Luxor has accused the leadership of the security forces of weakness in the special investigation into the kidnapping of their daughter, Rānīyā Ridá Gorgy, 20-years-old, four days ago while shopping with her mother. The family has also accused their Muslim neighbors of being involved (Yusrī Muhammad and Nirmīn Najdī, al-Tahrīr, Apr. 27, p. 10). Read original text in Arabic.
