The villages of the Manbāl and Manshā'at Manbāl live in suspense following the clashes that erupted on May 14 between Muslims and Copts. The military were called in to contain the clashes and six young Muslims suspected of starting to incidents and violating two pharmacies and a church were arrested. An inhabitant of Manshā'at Manbāl, 'Imād 'Azīz, stated that the trouble began when some Muslim students were being confrontational toward a Coptic girl from the village and threw bag of water at her when she was returning from school.
