Hulsman responded to questions of Mr. Rik Bokelman, Christelijk Informatie Platvorm,

"Many reports about the persecution of Christians in Egypt are absolutely one sided. Most conflicts between Christians and Muslims do not find their origin in religious differences. Usually, the underlying cause is of an economic nature." These are the comments of Kees Hulsman, the editor in chief of the Arab-West Report, who has been doing research for more than 15 years regarding the position of Christians in Egypt. Last week he sat down with Essam al-Haddad, an advisor to the Egyptian president Mursi, and asked him questions formulated by Coptic Christians in Egypt. As a Christian, Kees Hulsman has been a strong advocate of Christian-Mulsim dialogue. “The news often presents inaccurate reports on the tensions between Muslims and Christians in Egypt.”
