The battle of constitutional amendments began early, as al-Nour Party (al-Nūr) threatened to call its supporters to the street in the event of the removal of the Article II from the Constitution. The Islamic group accused the assembly of amending the Constitution to target aspects of sharī’ah and articles relating to identity and of seeking to oust the Islamic movement. Various party leaders dismissed the threats of the party to withdraw from the Constituent Assembly, considering that this threat aimed at maintaining the survival of Article 219. It is also not in line with the actions of al-Nour Party, as they said that Salāh Abdal Mabbūd, a member of the high board of al-Nour Party, said that his party decided to continue its participation in the Constituent Assembly, but he sent a note to the institution of the presidency about his objection on the formation of the committee, and waits for a response. He stated that he will withdraw if ignored.

The movement, Brotherhood without Violence, announced its rejection of the formation of the assembly that will amend the Constitution of 2012, confirming that it will file a case in the Administrative Court to reject the formation of the Constituent Assembly, who they said that it is “unfair” (Author not mentioned, al-Masrī al-Yawm Sept. 4). Read the original text in Arabic.
