Member of the Wafd Party higher committee ꞌIsām Shīhā said that the upcoming parliamentary elections under the current law will marginalize women and Copts alike. He added that he is skeptical the upcoming (parliamentary) elections would run impartially with regard to the political instability and unintelligibility that rule the current government, beside the blatant absence of security on the Egyptian street, which might lead to a low number of candidacy.
"We need an unbiased government, something which cannot be attributed to Hishām Qandīl’s". According to Shīhā, Qandīl has already paved the way to controlling more firmly the upcoming parliamentary elections by appointing two members from the Muslim Brotherhood in two key ministries, Ministry of Local Development and Ministry of Supply and Internal Commerce, thus, practicing more impact on the public opinion and eventually leading to a larger number of governors adherent to the Muslim Brotherhood. He, further, noted that the present law endorses the eligibility of both the ministries of justice and interior to guide the elections and, so with, marginalize the role of the supreme election commission.
