The Nūr Party has welcomed the announcement of Field Marshall Abd al- Fattāh al- Sīsī’s bid for presidency and his resignation from the post of Minister of Defense in preparation for the presidential race. Eng. Galāl al- Murrah, Secretary General of the Nūr Party, stated on his Facebook account, “it is his right as a patriotic man to nominate himself for presidency”. However, the Da’wah al- Salafiah, the Salafi organization supporting the Nūr Party stated that they have not yet decided which presidential candidate to endorse. Yāssir Burhāmī, vice president of the Da’wah al- Salafiah stated that “the popularity of al- Sīsī cannot be denied.
