Due to the Muslim Brotherhood’s members’ persecution after June 30^th’s uprising, they have been able to continue their age-old tradition of handing out foodstuffs, clothes, and presents in poor communities to accumulate political support. As such, the Salafīs have taken the baton and continued this tradition of religious and financial manipulation, handing out flour, ghee, oil, sugar, and washing machines in rural villages and poor districts of the capital.
