Bishop Tawadros said that the assault on the Papal Headquarters during the rule of the Muslim Brotherhood was the first in all of Islamic History. He added that the Muslim Brotherhood started the violence against protesters at Maspero in order to lure the Christians into a violent confrontation with the army. Addressing other issues in Egypt, he said that foreign-backed terrorism is the biggest issue confronting the country. He also denied that the Copts need any Western assistance to solve their own problems saying that the Copts are gradually beginning to achieve their rights on their own.
