Rev. Dr Andrea Zakī, President of the Coptic Evangelical Church, said that the visit conducted by President al-Sīsī yesterday to the Cathedral hailed in a new history of Islamic-Christian relations in Egypt. He said that the president is establishing a new notion of citizenship as a behavior regularly practiced on Egyptian streets. He also clarified that, since President al-Sīsī assumed power, Muslim-Coptic relations witnessed positive development, asking Egyptian various institutions and media outlets to learn from the President’s crisis-management strategy. Moreover, he added that Egypt is the only example in the Arab region that was able to maintain its fabric, irrespective of what its faced in terms of sectarianism and crises that seek to target these positive relations between all Egyptian sects.
