Egypt's public prosecutor said that Shādī Ḥabash died in Ṭura Prison due to alcohol poisoning. The death of the young artist came under unclear circumstances, placing responsibility for Shādī’s death on Shādī himself, in attempt to take away responsibility from the prison administration. The incident has resulted in the circulation of approaches and comparisons between Shādī’s death and the killing of Khālid Saʿīd on social media.  Saʿīd was the first spark for the revolution in 2011 against President Ḥusnī Mubārak.
