When Jesus Christ stood before Pontius Pilate, He clearly stated, “My kingdom is not of this world.”  (John 18:36), thus proclaiming the complete rupture between His spiritual message and any political project on earth. These words constitute the cornerstone of the separation between religious faith and political agendas that seek to exploit religion as a guise to justify domination. However, what is known today as Christian Zionism seeks the exact opposite. It turns theology into a political tool and uses it to serve the Israeli colonial settlement project, disregarding the teachings of Jesus and the spirit of the Gospel.
