On February 17, 2018, Arab-West Report sent a delegation of interns to Qufāda, a village in Maghāgha, al-Minīa, to inquire into the outstanding relationship between its Christian and Muslim population. We interviewed two religious leaders, Abūna [Father] Yuʾannas, the priest of Qufāda’s Coptic Orthodox Church, and Sheikh Ḥassan, one of the two Sheikhs of the village. Unlike previous reports in Arab-West Report, we tried to get insights about the relations among individuals, rather than between leaders of a community. However, the reader must bear in mind that due to logistical issues, we could not spend many hours in the village, or interview people in the streets. The material proposed is based on statements by the two above-mentioned personalities, and on previous research. Prior to publication these statements were checked with both leaders.
