The only people that I could ever imagine would have a vested interest in resisting the recent campaign to abolish reduced sentences for honor crimes in Jordan are, of course, the perpetrators who have already benefited from the reduced sentences and, naturally, their families. I never could perceive that anyone else not directly involved with a case of this kind would want to associate themselves with the attempts to defend a practice as ancient and abominable as honor crimes. I was dead wrong.
