Al-Arabi
reviewed the opinions of different intellectuals and prominent figures among them are:
" General Fou’ad Allam,
Ex-Manager of the State Security Police, who said that it is very difficult to confirm whether someone was behind
the demonstrations of the students of the Azhar,
" Spokesman of Egyptian communist party; Dr. Ibrahim Badraway,
said that religious parties want to play the card of the religious feelings of the public,
" Dr. Atef al Banaa
ruled out the idea that the demonstration was prepared by a certain party,
" Dr. Atef al Iraqi said that the
problem is with intellectuals who don’t have a firm stance against those who attacked them,
" Dr. Ahmed
Megahed, professor of Contemporary Literature, said that novels cannot be studied with any standards other than the
standards of literary criticism.
" Nasserist leader Esaam al-Islambouli mentioned many cases where the Azhar
interfered and banned books of various intellectuals.
The novelists Abdel Raḥmān Meguid al Rabeay thinks that
there are many taboo areas imposed on Arab intellectuals, the main ones being religion, sex and authority.
