The reconciliation initiative exists, but where are those who reconcile? There is a tribal conflict going on between the Dābūd and the al-Hilāl. 25 Egyptians have been killed and families fled their houses. "Reunion" is an initiative launched by 40 inhabitants of Aswān to discuss the crisis of the attacked families and recently also the conflict between the two tribes. Mustafá Ghanīm from Balāna village in Aswan blames the absence of the security forces for the increase of victims. He stressed that they only interfered after more people had died and the situation had turned into a street fight. He said "If the security had interfered from the beginning, this would not have happened." He also said "we are trying to reach an understanding, but the clashes continue and the two sides refuse to sit together. We are peaceful people without problems, and all we want is the government to interfere and support the reconciliation attempt."(Rana 'Alī, al-Watan, Apr. 8, p. 7). Read original text in Arabic here.
